The clubs are led by Norman Magua (7th Dan) as President of Taekwon-Do South Africa & Head Instructor of Magua Taekwon-Do, in South Africa with his Wife Tanya Magua (5th Dan) as Vice President of Taekwon-Do South Africa & Instructor & Secretary General, & Denis Magua (6th Dan) leading our Canadian branch.  Our black belt lead instructors at our different locations, Tanya Magua (5th Dan), Richard Girvin (5th Dan), Natasha Voorhout (4th Dan), Selvan Pandaram (4th Dan), Avishkar Ajoodha (4th Dan), Mark Turnbull (3rd Dan) & Arthur Body (3rd Dan) as well as our assistant instructors, are all hand picked by Norman Magua for their passion, positive teaching traits & skills.  All having been trained to deliver top quality instruction in our clubs style and hold the necessary certifications from ITF (International Taekwon-Do Federation), TSA (Taekwon-Do South Africa), MASA (Martial Arts South Africa) including at least a HWSETA NQF 3 coach qualification (soon to be compulsory for all sports related coaching in SA, check to see if other coaches you or your children train with have this).  We stay ahead with our qualifications in order to hold our proud name high in the SA martial arts industry with top quality training.

What you can expect from the training:
We are an extremely well rounded and complete martial art.  It is great because you can get the full spectrum of martial art training in one class, not having to take multiple styles in order to strive to be a complete, well balanced martial artist.  Taekwon-Do is very well known for its kicking prowess, our style is also excellent at turning ones entire body into a weapon incase it is ever needed all while aiming to instill the well balanced mentality which must accompany such skills.

Some aspects very basically explained are Sparring (kickboxing is similar), Patterns/floor exercises (modernised technique sequenced moves similar to Kata), Hosin Sul /UrbanSelf defence (Krav Maga & Hapkido bear a resemblance), board breaking (power & jumping), fitness /exercise training & stretching. The very important aspect which also defines genuine martial arts is the "DO" or translated to way which moral culture is the very important balance to this potentially deadly martial art.  We also facilitate self defence courses from basic to advanced for members of the public and corporates known as Fighting Chance courses. As you can see it is very well rounded. Combining these aspects all together aims at building all round martial artist with character, confidence and humility.

We pride ourself on training and excelling in an all round way. Teaching I.T.F Taekwon-Do, the original Taekwon-Do style which originated out of the military and was founded by General Choi Hong Hi. We are the only club in the country directly connected to the source under the Generals son, Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa through Taekwon-Do South Africa. We are also MASA affiliated.

We take pride in training people to excell to the best of their abilities in the many aspects of our art. Whether traditional, competitive or Hosin Sul (urban self defence) all while focussing on enhancing well balanced individuals. We incorporate all of this into the training, so no need to go to different styles for each individual trait.

ITF Taekwon-Do is modern and dynamic but still holds true to martial arts values and traditions.

Classes at a Magua Taekwon-Do School follow a traditional approach to challenge and improve students physically and mentally in order to bring out each individual's best. A large focus of the school is individual improvement and self-betterment through training.
Taekwon-Do was originally created for, and spread, through the South Korean military. It was designed to build soldiers up physically and mentally while developing superior skill for use in hand to hand combat on the battlefield. While most of us are not at war, violent crime is rampant. At the Magua Taekwon-Do school we have introduced our own unique self-defence syllabus utilising best practices, procedures and traditional techniques for maximum self-defence effectiveness in an urban environment.

For those that are interested in competition, there is a big sporting side to this well-rounded martial art and if you are that way inclined, you will be trained to the highest level of that aspect of the art. The age is considered and rules are applied slightly differently in terms of children to cater for their growing needs.

The Magua Taekwon-Do School offers a challenging, yet safe environment for students of all ages, shapes and sizes. We recognise that every person starts a martial arts journey for their own reasons and we will help you to achieve your goals and realise your martial arts dreams.

We are traditional as well as modern in approach. ITF Taekwon-Do is the most modern of the traditional martial arts in its birth as well as being based on scientific principles for effectiveness/ power and healthy body mechanics. Gaining belts is not rushed and building quality is more important than quantity of black belts. We do take into account each individuals strengths and limitations and we aim to bring out each individuals best according to those criteria.
