Boasting about 20 years of martial arts/combat sports experience including Judo,Tang Soo Do& Boxing. He is also the co- founder of Magua Taekwon-Do clubs , Taekwon-Do South Africa and Magua Hosin-Sul (Urban self defence techniques).
He is known for his hardcore approach and inspirational methods of teaching. He and his brother are both focused on being innovative and dynamic in steering the direction of their clubs.
Within the competition aspect:
He has been a national and international medallist, including winning national Taekwon-Do and all styles championships. He has represented his country four times in international competition five times. (Gen Choi’s Cup New York 2000, World Champs Italy ’01, Pan American games ’05 & World Champs England ’07)
He has trained national and international medallists.
Co-coach for the General Choi’s Cup in 2000. A high profile tournament in New York. A gold medal received for a member of the small team.(First medal for a high profile international event)
World Championships in 2001 (Part of the team who received the first medals for SA ,team power breaking, at a world champs)
Co- coach for the Pan-American Championships 2005.
Head coach for the 2007 World Championships (First medals were received for the new organization, including for him self)
Co- head coach for the team preparing for the 2010 world championships.
He also maintains that the competition aspect is only an aspect of the art and his everyday teaching achievements are his most rewarding.
He has also trained and been graded by some of the finest masters in the world. He is proud to have one of the finest masters in the world Master Trevor Nicholls 8th Dan as his instructor.
