With about 20 years of martial arts/combat sports training behind him including Judo ,Tang Soo Do & informally in various other styles , he began Taekwon-Do in 1994 and never looked back.He is the co- founder  of Magua Taekwon-Do clubs and Taekwon-Do South Africa. He is also the co founder of Magua Hosin-Sul (Urban self defence techniques).

 

He was born to train people to become their personal best. Him self and co head, his brother are dynamic and innovative in their approach to all aspects of this art and are known for their inspirational approach.

 

Within the competition aspect:

 

He has been a national and international medallist, including winning national Taekwon-Do and all styles championships. He has represented his country in international competition five times. (World Champs Russia ’97, Gen Choi’s Cup New York 2000, World Champs Italy ’01, Pan American games ’05 & World Champs England ’07)

 

He has trained national and international medallists.

 

Co-head coach for the General Choi’s Cup in 2000. A high profile tournament in New York. A gold medal received for a member of the small team.(First medal for a high profile international event)

 

Away-head coach for the World Championships in 2001 (Where South Africa received their first medals ,team power breaking, at a worlds)

 

Co-head coach for the Pan-American Championships 2005.

 

Co-head coach for the 2007 World Championships (First medals were received for the new organization, including for him self)

 

Co- head coach for the team preparing for the 2010 world championships.

Norman still maintains that most of his achievements are un- listed because they are actually off the competition floor and in the every day training to bring out the best in the members, in all aspects of the art.

 

He has also trained and been graded by some of the finest masters in the world. He is proud to have one of the finest masters in the world Master Trevor Nicholls 8th Dan as his instructor.
